After Forty-Five

after forty-five

after forty-five
days, i realize that color
will return. there are gross
parts of me that have
already accepted
and is refusing to feel
crushed
any longer.
but moment by
moment, i am still
a one-man
rescue squad. i put on
the suit, and nothing
gets to me.
and i never take out
the photographs
.
