the night before the night
i was just biting a giggle
into your right
shoulder, leaving
a flowering frenzy
for later examination
perhaps a joke or two
a day later, it is
only an ugly mark,
something that no
longer holds any
meaning during this
somber time
when everything
has become
a spent
afterthought
.
