Love Hurts

"Love Hurts"

Love hurts
love scars
love wounds and mars any heart
Not tough or strong enough
to take a lot of pain
Take a lot of pain;
love is like a cloud
holds a lot of rain.

Love hurts
love hurts
I'm young I know but even so
I know a thing or two
I've learned from you
I've really learned a lot
really learned a lot.
Love is like a flame
It burns you when it's hot.

Love hurts
love hurts
some fools rave of happiness

Blissfulness
togetherness
some fools fool themselves
I guess

But they're not fooling me
I know it isn't true
I know it isn't true
Love is just a lie
made to make you blue
Love hurts
love hurts.

Love hurts
love scares
love wounds and mars any heart

***Back in 2000, before the world pitched topsy turvy and towers fell, I helped write a script called, LOVE HURTS, aka The Ride. We, some movie freak buddies and professionals, were going to film a 20 minutes short of this. We ran out of funding and the project, like so many artful endeavors, fell to pieces. At one of our location selections, up in the high wheat country above Coulee Dam, we found a solitary schoolhouse, old and abandoned, all alone in a field of thousands of acres. The tire tracks showed us it was an approved passion pit for the area. Someone, probably a teenager, had spray painted a message on the wall of the old school, "L O V E H U R T S " it read. No shit, I said. And someday I will return to the script, and the project will rise out of its own ashes.
