What If I Did?

What If I Did?

In the night, stars - your shadow, shorter
your breath, shallow - Winter white,
exchanges following;

I breathe out - you, breathe in...
the world spins beyond
conception...

Those slugish sounds;
the noise of jealousy unwraps
from its cellophane

This competition...why?
Our opposite feet and arms;
the different drums we hear...

Somehow we fill each other's steps
You say I brag, but what is this pain?
Is it your's or mine?

In your mind, I can't be me - still,
I am. Take it or leave it...don't be sorry,
I can't forgive what is, but if I did,
would you be right?
