All the professors
Wore Roman toga, not white,
But olive colored,
Watched a movie
About the gossip of gypsies
Who lived in Catatonia
And sold steamed snails.
Each professor,
Although he did
Not own a yacht
Or row boat,
Held an oar
Upright in his hand.
The balconies were closed,
And the windows
On the Spanish structures
Painted on the movie houses‚ walls
Were repainted
To be covered
With closed window blinds.
