Al Fresco Cafe Poems #170

Al Fresco Café Poem #170

Renata's Poem: The Birth of the Author #10

Alexander the Great adjacent to bins of apples,
Buses mobile, banks static.
Desire created the co-existence tree, arboreal
With lions
Metamorphosing into lambs,
Lambs
Metamorphosing into lions--both before and after,
Both have tails that are merry-go-rounds.

There are no knowns, everything is unknown,
The wind and maps
Have their closed shutters, their open windows,
Their broken windows.

Scarecrows
Or codes
Like comets become cosmetics
And are commodified
As consumers arise out of white-tipped waves
Among floating roses
and the puffed cheeks of zephyrs
blowing laurel leaves into wreaths
To stand seaweed-covered on scallop shells.

This poem is from the latter part
of Renata's late shoe period.
