Painting by Salvador Dali
Showcases
Showcases, we stare at,
Wish we were on display.
People would stare at us,
Admire us;
Perhaps even love us.
Then comes the disillusion,
The sadness,
The realization
People, if we are in the showcase,
Are not staring at us,
Not admiring us,
Would never love us.
People are staring at what is not us,
The clothes,
We as mannequins are forced to wear.
The people are admiring
What has been forced upon us
And is not us.
Perhaps, the people will even love
What is not us.
