Ambrose Bierce, nicknamed 'Bitter Bierce' (1842-1913) was an American editorialist, journalist, short story writer, fabulist and satirist. He is best known for his short story 'An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge' and his 'Devil's Dictionary'.
