Zorba's Wisdom

Zorba’s Wisdom

Fourth Triolet

“Clever people and grocers,
They weigh everything.”
always lifting their leg, those curs,
Clever people and grocers,
but without a sweet smile like hers,
they remain forever just a ding-a-ling;
Clever people and grocers,
They weigh everything.

  1. "Clever people and grocers,
    they weigh everything" ... again, your repeated lines are perfect.

    And boy is this a great line:
    "but without a sweet smile like hers" ... wit without beauty may masquerade as folly

    Some days, I think I could say absolutely anything and be found clever ... unless I'm having a bad hair day or have missed the mark on my makeup applique.

  2. Ah, weighing can be either a blessing or a curse. Nice triolet. I notice this is your second one. it is a form that resonates with me as well and plan to write more. For now, here is mine:

  3. Very clever! I really enjoyed this--funny but there's a bit of winsomeness in the "like hers" too. Very nice. K.

  4. Very clever! And this underlines how easily you've taken to the form, as if it were instinctive. Good work!
