Quartet
“A poem is never finished, only abandoned.”
--Paul Valery
Keezie
Our cat,
once but a stray,
has now a decade been
feline ruler of feeding times
for him.
*********************************
Pontiff
Francis
the First now reigns,
and Catholics can cheer
as a man of the people stands
out front.
************************************
Bitten
Vampires,
more popular
than ever these days, pop up
in television and movie
plots now.

Remembrance
Taffy,
far from perfect,
was our family dog
for twelve wonderful years, but is
long gone.

Would you like the author to read these Cinquains to you?
sorry you lost taffy man...
ReplyDeleteha, and my cat his def ruler...now that his sister is gone....will be interesting to see the response to the new pope...
cool use of the form in very different verses....
smiles...always find that cats rule the households they live in.. sorry to hear about the loss of your dog..and yeah...let's see how the new pope is doing
ReplyDeleteSorry about your dog, Glen--that is hard to deal with. Enjoyed this quartet.
ReplyDeleteI really love the cat cinquain, there is this saying dogs have owners cats have servants... Sorry for the dog. I really loved these 4 cinquains.
ReplyDeleteQuite a collection here! Yes, I have been noticing the increase in vampires too. Things go in cycles!
ReplyDeleteI'm really excited about our new pope.
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely random tiny stories linked together in perhaps my own cruel way. I love cats, dogs meh, tough to lose any pet to be sure.
ReplyDeleteThe last poem is a bummer. I've lost a few of my own.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the variety of your cinquains, Glenn. It really is a surprisingly versatile form, once you get the hang of the restrictions.
ReplyDeleteSorry about your dog - they are such faithful companions, so they are missed greatly when they're gone.
I like hidden message that the "Pope" is a bloodlust predator like vampires and cats and dogs.....
ReplyDeleteAnd the hidden message that the "Pope" is as common and base as cats and dogs and fictional vampires
the gentle acceptance and inclusion of the cat is lovely.
ReplyDeleteSorry about Taffy :( Nicely done. Three! I couldn't even do one haha
ReplyDeleteI loved your quartet, especially in conjunction with the picture.I'm still thinking about the order. I also got a laugh over "plots." The poem about Taffy was sweet.
ReplyDeleteamazing conjectures and heartache heartbeat and beauty! Sincerely Deborah
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about your taffy... pets are so much more than just pets. I love how you choose to do several different poems. They are all wonderful!
ReplyDeleteWow, you're on a roll with this verse form! I think I like the cat one best - it really does describe those feline lords perfectly!
ReplyDeleteLOL... had a hard time writing just one
ReplyDeleteAh - I especially like the Taffy one - they are all clever - but of course, we all feel moved by a sweet remembrance of a dog.
ReplyDeleteHope Francis will be great. k.
Amazing -- I haven't visited you in forever.
ReplyDeleteAnd low and behold, we share a "Taffy". Mine, from childhood.
I have had many dogs since. But my children know the legendary Taffy and that there can never be a better dog.
Nicely done!
Apparently Francis has already declared that social efforts not done in Jesus' name are doomed to fall apart, fail and be worthless. Alas -- really?
