Quartet

“A poem is never finished, only abandoned.”
--Paul Valery

Keezie

Our cat,
once but a stray,
has now a decade been
feline ruler of feeding times
for him.

*********************************

Pontiff

Francis
the First now reigns,
and Catholics can cheer
as a man of the people stands
out front.

************************************

Bitten

Vampires,
more popular
than ever these days, pop up
in television and movie
plots now.

**************************************

Remembrance

Taffy,
far from perfect,
was our family dog
for twelve wonderful years, but is
long gone.

  7. Such lovely random tiny stories linked together in perhaps my own cruel way. I love cats, dogs meh, tough to lose any pet to be sure.

  8. The last poem is a bummer. I've lost a few of my own.

  9. I really enjoyed the variety of your cinquains, Glenn. It really is a surprisingly versatile form, once you get the hang of the restrictions.

Sorry about your dog - they are such faithful companions, so they are missed greatly when they're gone.

  10. I like hidden message that the "Pope" is a bloodlust predator like vampires and cats and dogs.....

And the hidden message that the "Pope" is as common and base as cats and dogs and fictional vampires

  18. Ah - I especially like the Taffy one - they are all clever - but of course, we all feel moved by a sweet remembrance of a dog.

Hope Francis will be great. k.

  19. Amazing -- I haven't visited you in forever.
And low and behold, we share a "Taffy". Mine, from childhood.
I have had many dogs since. But my children know the legendary Taffy and that there can never be a better dog.
    Nicely done!

Apparently Francis has already declared that social efforts not done in Jesus' name are doomed to fall apart, fail and be worthless. Alas -- really?
