The Arsonist

The Arsonist

“The professional arsonist builds vacant
lots for money.”--Jimmy Breslin.

Is it even
possible
to spark
more
controversy
within a Presidential
election
than the Donald
has managed?
                                                This lethal
                                                demagogic
                                                buffoon has
                                                ignited riots,
                                                disrupted
                                                our precious
                                                liberty,

                  while creating
                  a firestorm with
                  combustible
                  Trump-speak

that could
transform
democracy
into ash
and
sycophantic

chaos.

  1. Yes... I'm really scared what he might leave in the wake of this election. I can see a prairie fire building.

  2. Fabulous quote, and a strong follow-up. This whole year has me worn out, and a bit singed. Looking forward to November 9th. ;)

  3. 15 more days. It's been a long election cycle. Will we be able to come together as a country when it's all over? Scary.

  4. That quote is so apt, Glenn. As I've said before, I don't understand American politics but I do understand how dangerous Trump is. I hope he is losing momentum and the outcome is a good one.

  6. It is absolutely frightening!
Glenn: wanted to tell you, we leave early tomorrow morning for Singapore. Five days there then board a cruise ship for 15 days including stops in Bali, and all around the coast of Australia; docking in Sydney Nov 14. Off the ship to tour the Opera House and walk around The Rocks. Back on the ship to same cabin and 14 days with stops all around the coasst of New Zealand. Dock in Sydney again -- and this time we have an apartment for 5 days which will include a train up into the Blue Mountains, hiking for a day. It is the trip of a life-time, two years in the planning. SO -- wanted to be sure to get your "spark" poem read today -- and explain what the heck is going on....hence, not as much reading. We'll be off the coast of Australia when election results happen. Pretty confident now that we can toast in Madame President with a wonderful martini rather than jump overboard to seek asylum in Australia!
So, my friend........here's praying for a peaceful election and a peaceful transition. Never have we seen anything like this...:(

  8. Well we Canadians don't like him either. Can't wait for this election to be over so we can put him out of our sight ~ Good one Glenn ~

  9. When I read the title, I saw "ASSonist". No coincidence. This election is plastered in Canadian media as well. I'm so sick of his mug and his ridiculousness. Scary to think that he could even be allowed to run.
Besides your usual humour, I can really feel your frustration in your words. Sending you good thoughts from Canada.

  10. There is always some demagogue stirring sparks, but never before with a major party.

  11. I too cannot wait for this election to be over and done with.

  12. I can't even bear to look at his face. I couldn't watch one debate, it was too sickening to my soul. None of us can wait until this circus is finally over. It's been tough having the entire world following our politics with their mouths agape! What an embarrassment!

  18. I've heard social mood is becoming more negative in the US, but I don't know how someone would measure that. However, the US markets are still high.
