Inexorable

Inexorable

“Adapt or perish, now as ever, is nature’s
inexorable imperative.”--H.G. Wells.

Deep
into the Yukon,
within
the northern-most
forests,

in every
snow-choked
canyon,
burrow & cave,

beneath
crag & evergreen
spires,

Spring
is stabbing
into the icy
heart of winter--

and all
the spawn
of gestation
ready

themselves,
eager
to blossom
and be

born.

  1. I liked the idea of stabbing winter's icy heart or warming it enough so that it melts.

  2. Stab away ---- into that icy winter! We are ready for spring --- but alas, a blizzard is coming our way tomorrow --- winter's AHA!

  14. Inexorable is an underused word, one I'd like to read more often. Your Quadrille is very apt considering the comments I've read this evening - most people seem to have snow! So yes, keep stabbing that icy heart of winter, Spring!
