Abdication

Abdication

“The politician is only too happy to abdicate in
favor of his image--because the image is much
more powerful than he could ever be.”
--Marshall McLuhan.

Presidents should serve, never rule.
No true Republic has ever had a king.
Like Hamilton, I’d like to challenge Trump to a duel.
Presidents should serve, never rule.
Obviously, Trump skipped Civics in school.
No true Republic has ever had a king.
Presidents should serve, never rule.
No true Republic has ever had a king.

  1. Yay! You're right - our politicians seem to have forgotten that they are public servants first and foremost. You've brought an old form bang up to date.

  4. I so agree Presidents should serve never rule, we live in a democracy but, it feels sometimes it is a kingdom ruled by a fool.

  6. Your political triolet is so true, Glenn. Trump hasn’t a clue about politics and ‘Presidents should serve, never rule’. The same applies to prime Ministers.

  8. Send this one to MSNBC for a little poetic encouragement! If only the president felt the same.

  9. There can be very few presidents who don't self-serve, line pockets, abuse power. It isn't a fool-proof system. I suppose Trump is the living proof.

  10. In order to serve, one must have some measure of humanity about them. This monster was stitched together with stereotypes and privilege. He is constitutionally incapable of serving, and that is using both definitions of the word constitution.

  11. Very good Glenn. Yes, kings were rejected from the birth of our Republic.

  12. I think there are many countries where this has applied and applies but we usually call them banana republics. I doubt that Trump would make a very good dictator though.
