Everybody Must Get Stoned

“Some days are diamonds, and some days

are stones.”--Neal Gaiman.

I spent my

whole youth,

turning over stones;

gathering and

polishing them.

Stones

haunt history.

David slew Goliath

with one.

Sisyphus

rolled one

uphill for an eternity.

Lazarus

watched

as Jesus moved

that boulder

off his tomb

with two words,

Rise Up!

Say Hallelujah!

Glenn Buttkus

  3. A great Quadrille! A wonderful rock collection you have here Glenn! Such great examples. And perhaps Willie Nelson will have the same fate as Sisyphus and be stoned for eternity!! :>)

  4. Dwight; If not Willie, then maybe Bob Dylan?

  5. Stones pepper throughout history, you're so right. In at least Chinese culture they are thought to be imbued with sentient spirit. What throws me about stones is that in the wild they are quiet and unassuming but once humans get ahold of them they want to shine and polish them. They have a boulder of jade at the Field Museum in the hall of gems. It looks so out of place there.

  6. You have captured stones through the ages. Of course now I have this looping in my head.

    How does it feel?
    How does it feel?
    To be on your own
    With no direction home
    A complete unknown
    Like a rolling stone?

  9. I love the spirit of this, Glenn! Today feels like a stone, but I'm hoping there is still time for it to transform into a diamond...
