painting by Megan Duncanson.
Still
“Shoot for the moon, and if you miss it
you’ll still be among the stars.”--Les Brown.
As my eyes open,
glancing out the window
at the dark gray underbelly
of Spring cumulus,
I realize I’m still alive,
still behind on projects,
still in pain,
still hungry,
still ambitious,
still in love
with my wife--
so I greeted
the new day.

I'm glad in spite of the negative "stills" that you are still in live with your wife. I think we all are behind in projects, tasks that must be done...sigh. it seems the older I get the behinder I get.
A lot of Stills to be thankful for methinks. Wonderful image too.
The key words are "still ambitious" and "still in love with my wife". If you manage those two, the rest will fall in place! Nicely written.
Nice quote by Les Brown. I liked the repetition of "still". Beautiful painting by Duncanson and enjoyable audio performance of your poem.
Love this. I feel the same way about my wife.
Words of pure beauty Glenn. Gratitude is a powerful force in the world and more so when times are hard.
Such a thankful poem, Glenn! I particularly like the phrase 'dark gray underbelly
of Spring cumulus' and the effective repetition of 'still'.
It's a mixed bag, ain't it? Like you, I am still thankful. :)
Still much to be grateful for...this post sparkles like a gem, Glenn!
You still got the fire and the love Glenn ~ Thanks for joining us ~
This is sweet!
A true (brief) ode to aging well, I believe. Moving through those negatives to embrace the moment. I'm with you.
Profound and inspiring. LOved. Thanks@!
I still love what you write ;-)
Nicely done. :)
This is soo incredibly evocative.. and so romantic!!❤️
dark gray underbelly
of Spring cumulus, That is so expressive. I hear the cumulus coming sometimes and am glad to know i'm still here when it's done. Thanks Glenn
very sweet, Glenn ~
Of course it is the underbelly of the cloud, isn't it!! Loved that line!
I love this Glenn, all your gifts to this world are still here :o)
A lovely processing of a possibly dark moment that stays afloat. I like your choice of art and the quote as well.
You still have what it takes to draw us in!
Still there are things to do... wonderful
This is really gorgeous.
Such a fun thing to realize one is wealthy with them. There are more to life than just material wealth!
