Still

painting by Megan Duncanson.

Still

“Shoot for the moon, and if you miss it
you’ll still be among the stars.”--Les Brown.

As my eyes open,
glancing out the window
at the dark gray underbelly
of Spring cumulus,

I realize I’m        still alive,
                          still behind on projects,
                          still in pain,
                          still hungry,
                          still ambitious,
                          still in love
with my wife--
so I greeted

the new day.

I'm glad in spite of the negative "stills" that you are still in live with your wife. I think we all are behind in projects, tasks that must be done...sigh. it seems the older I get the behinder I get.

A lot of Stills to be thankful for methinks. Wonderful image too.

The key words are "still ambitious" and "still in love with my wife". If you manage those two, the rest will fall in place! Nicely written.

Nice quote by Les Brown. I liked the repetition of "still". Beautiful painting by Duncanson and enjoyable audio performance of your poem.

Words of pure beauty Glenn. Gratitude is a powerful force in the world and more so when times are hard.

Such a thankful poem, Glenn! I particularly like the phrase 'dark gray underbelly
of Spring cumulus' and the effective repetition of 'still'.

A true (brief) ode to aging well, I believe. Moving through those negatives to embrace the moment. I'm with you.

A lovely processing of a possibly dark moment that stays afloat. I like your choice of art and the quote as well.

Such a fun thing to realize one is wealthy with them. There are more to life than just material wealth!
