Demons

Demons

“The demons you have are what motivates
you to make your art.”--Tom Reiss.

Sixteen kids and staff
died yesterday; Florida
wails, while we join them.
Pain rides me like a demon--

there seems to be room for more.

Nice to see you again. You have been missed by me! Yes. Yesterday was a dark day. You captured it so well.

The pain of such things... and so little to offer. Prayers and no solutions except locking up the nutcase.

There seems to be room for more. The most unfortunate observation of all, seeing as how we collectively create an environment for that room.

Very apt description of pain: "Pain rides me like a demon"

You've captured the horror of what happened in 'Pain rides me like a demon', Glenn.

You have captured the horror of what happened in so few words here and yes, 'there seems to be room for more'

And another one...You seem to have an infinite capacity for sorrowing while doing nothing to prevent more tragedies. It baffles outsiders. Sorry if it sounds flippant, but such loss of young life over and over again is appalling.

Sadly your comment applies to the lack of sane gun policy here - which can only be made at the government level. President Obama’s sane gun regulations were evoked by president Trump. Do know, there are many many people in the US who are equally as appalled as you and extremely upset and frustrated by the blind eyes and deaf ears to this tragic comedy of no gun control; and somehow supporting it by citiing it by an amendment drafted for the militia and citizens by our founding fathers who had no knowledge or inkling of how muskets would turn into automatic rifles, magazines, and modern day military weapons. Spare me the “guns don’t kill people, people do” platitudes. Spare me the political donations of NRA to politicians for favors returned. Better gun application and registration processes, not allowing mentally ill people to legally buy guns etc. There are sane gun control laws that could be enacted. Sorry to vent. But US lawmakers bowing their heads in prayer is not in any way the answer.

...there seems to be room for more....appalling and true. If Sandy Hook didn’t get sane gun control policies enacted, nothing will. These horrific situations are far too commonplace.

Yes, we wail with them, as we add them to the ongoing list.

Yes, there are no adequate words. Healing for them could not happen for a long time, if ever

Geez that's rad.

Good to see you Glenn. Sorry to hear life has been challenging. Then along comes another perspective shifter...at least you would hope. Barely have the platitudes been spoken and it's all brushed over again. There should never be room for more.

Mind-numbing, gut-wrenching pain...demons have no mercy when we shut God out of schools and society.

'Pain rides me like a demon--' - That is exactly the feeling one gets from all these lives cut short. Beautifully written, Glenn.

A dark day. And it will happen again and again. When will we stop killing our children?

there's room for one more, i wasn't sure how to interpret this so I am going withe the first thought that crossed my mind. that you have space and maybe will create more space to feel the grief those parents and families feel. as a mother who lost her son recently, i know there is no void so huge than to lose a child and to lose them in this way creates a fracture of the soul. I too want to make space for one more. your words touched me deeply.

Your last line is riveting and completely true. This is a vehicle of violence and death. We have mentally ill people in Canada...but mass shootings are extremely rare. Hmmm...its not rocket science.
