White Buck

 White Buck

“Ideas are like rabbits. You get a couple, and

pretty soon you have a dozen.”--John Steinbeck.

Alice

should never have

let her curiosity

be her guide,

She

knew it was

lethal for cats,

but

she was still curious

as to why

a white rabbit

carried

a watch.

So,

down the rabbit

hole she went,

never to be

the same again.

I think a rabbit carrying a watch would make me curious as well... but I assume it would be hard for me to get into such a rabbit hole... So I guess i would dive into the hole of conspiracy theories relating to rabbits instead.

I think she probably came out better (certainly more interesting) than she went in!

I love the Steinbeck quote, Glenn, and that the prompt took you down the rabbit hole with Alice. Curiosity may be lethal for some, but not the Cheshire Cat. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyFSHggHZME

Yes, she definitely "lost her muchness" for awhile there...but what an adventure!
Love this, Glenn.

I love your message in the poem, telling us the curiosity always changes us in some way or another...sort of like losing your virginity! You are never the same again! Love the poem and the way you wove Alice's curiosity and the rabbit's watch together so well!

Glenn, you're right, some things are better left unknown. Yet how are we to grow without the experiences of those hero's journeys?

Ideas ARE like rabbits indeed, and lead some down the rabbit hole ... else how would we know what's down there if some fool didn't go and find out!

But it lead to new adventures, smiles.

Great poem. Curiosity and temptation are close cousins. And we never know where some holes might lead!

Y'know, you make a great point there. Sometimes, our curiosity can bring knowledge, even experiences, that will change us and who we are; never the same. Just as curiously, we should wonder if the change was for the better or worse. We can think of the consequences, visualize them, but perhaps not fully understand them until after we are changed by our choices or actions. Brilliantly written with beautiful, impactful imagery.

Great Steinbeck quote. When we take our rabbit holes we never emerge the same.
