Hemingway A.D.
“The world is a fine place, worth fighting for, and I
hate very much having to leave it.”
--Ernest Hemingway.
Of all the Hemingway
novels made
into films,
my favorite is
ISLANDS IN THE STREAM,
(1977), based on Hemingway’s
posthumously published
1970 novel.
George C. Scott
as artist Thomas Hudson,
embodied the quintessential
Hemingway character,
both heroic and tragic.
Ironically,
Hemingway
never finished it.

The very words "Islands in a Stream" carry me away to all sorts of interludes and musings!
Looks like one I need to see. I hope you get a chance to see the Ken Burns' series on Hemingway that came out not long ago.
Nicely written, Glenn!
Wow, an unfinished stream. So interesting. Loved this, Glenn.
Nice one.
Thanks for dropping by ti read mine
Much๐love
This tugged at my heart, Glenn. Hemmingway was such a figure and his work so powerful. I felt his soul in this, so much sadly unfinished.
This is expertly wrought, Glenn! You have infused the soul of Hemingway so very beautifully into your words ๐๐
I will have to catch that flick! Not much in the theaters these days! ๐
I've never seen it or read the book, but I really ought to do both!
Now that *is* a stream worth contemplating.
George C Scott, one of the greatest! Hemingway ... also one of the greatest!
Now I will have to read the book and see the movie. Thanks, Glenn.
