Fistful of Zen

 Fistful of Zen

“Zen is not work or achievement; it’s just you

becoming a revelation to your self.”--Huang Po

Freedom me

from pigeon holes.

Do not force me

to wear an

identity wrapper:   progressive,

                             pro-choice

                             professional

                             patriot

                             partner

                             personable

                             pugilist

                             proactive

                             poet

                             prophet

                             particle

                             patriarch,

because I am more,

much infinitely interestingly originally

more--

starship captain,

co-creator

of the universe

and beyond.

A very nice use of the key word. And you are only up to the Ps? It takes a lifetime to reveal what we need to know. Love the irony of the title.

Well said...and your "p" list is one page of the book (that you can't fit in a quadrille). Seems to be an abundance of "identity wrappers" lately. I find it archaic. Our minds are capable ( or should be) of so much more.

You know & expose yourself masterfully here, Cap'n. Danke

Yeah no one wants to be pigeonholed or put in a box. Everyone is capable of so much more. Nice poem.

Yo’ bro’, this is so cool Cap’n Butkus! I like! Didn’t know you were pro-life — but that’s your CHOICE. 😏 Proud of you my friend keepin’ it tight to 44. I went back down a blues alley in Memphis again. I also posted one of my old spoken word productions that had a music bed.

Pigeon-holing inevitably leads to division and discrimination. I think that's why we do it. It's handy to have a list of people to throw mud at.

Labels are for lazy people and so presumptuous (another p for your list?).

Capt. Buttkus, no one can pigeon hole you! Well said.

Most people go beyond the easy pigeonholing. Well said, Glenn.
