Wounded Knee
from "Vilify": Part VI
The moral logic of Holocaust deniers just
murders me. Their arguments all essentially
boil down to this:
"Hitler was not targeting Jews; and besides
millions and millions of people didn't die.
It was more like tens of thousands."
The Native American Genocide deniers use
similar logic:
"There weren't 15 million Indians living
here when Columbus landed. There were only
a few million. And besides, it was mostly
smallpox that wiped them out. Only tens
of thousands were actually killed in
military actions."
Sherman Alexie
from his book FACE.
