Victoria.
They danced
more than
they rocked.
Victoria
was dubbed
the “Posh Spice”.
I loved
“Spice Up Your Life”.

ReplyDeleteI did think of the Spice girls, but wasn't sure how I could fit them into a poem. I wouldn't say I was a fan, but I recognise their songs when I hear them. She's still Posh, by the way.

DeleteNever listened to the Spice Girls, but Mel B. as a judge on America's Got Talent does not impress me. Her wardrobe reminds me of too much pepper, garlic, oregano, chives, orange peel, and about ten other spices in what should be a simple potato soup. Just hideous! But your poem is great.

ReplyDeleteI am listening to Spice Up Your Life for the first time right now. I think I missed the 90s entirely, but I did hear the name "Spice Girls" in conversation.
ReplyDeleteI love the GB Shaw Prompt - typical of him! Didn't have you for a Spice Girls fan, though, Glenn. :) We'd just moved up to Norfolk in 1992 and my daughter was in a new school, so all her friends loved the Spice Girls while she was into the music we were listening to: Metaliica, Alice in Chains, Sondgraden, as well as old favourites Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Free and Thin Lizzy, amongst others - I was still listening to Joni and Billy Holliday, of course. At first, her friends from school thought we were weird, but later it was deemed cool to come round our house to watch cult movies and listen to music!
