Risen

Risen

“It is true that we and the world are dust--but
the dust has motes rising.”--Mohammed Iqbal.

He has risen.
No, not Him--
that was yesterday.
Me;
something my wife says
often
when I get up around
eight in the morning.

But hey,
I am
retired.

It’s not how often you’re
knocked down that matters, it’s
how often you rise up.

  1. It's a nice feeling to not be bound to a schedule isn't it. You convey it wonderfully Glenn.

  2. Love this! My retired husband would love it if I was up before him and said this to him. Unfortunately, the dog and cat both make sure he has risen long before he'd like to.

  4. Your quadrille made me smile, Glenn. Even though I retired nearly five years ago, I can’t get out of the early habit – any time between 5.30 and 7.00 at the latest - I wish I could lie in sometimes. There is so much truth in your final lines!

  6. This made me chuckle. Why not, sleep in?
I can imagine your wife saying this, like me saying "Good morning" to my husband when he wakes up from a nap.
I make my own schedule, but still wake up around 5 AM. :)

  7. This flowed perfectly, Glenn, something I find hard to get with the quadrille form.

  10. This was entertaining. I am baffled by my retired neighbours who rise before the sun. What I look forward to the most is sleeping in....and past eight.

  11. Haha! This brought a laugh from me! Yes, a laugh rises! I hope some day I can retire. But really, doesn't retire mean you just get tired all over again?

  17. Ha Your humorous side was shining in this one! I like to sleep late in the weekends as I get up too early to start my workday.

The journey sometimes knocks us down but, survival depends on getting back up. Resilience the πŸ”‘
