Once Upon a Dunce

artwork by Torren Thomas.

Once Upon a Dunce

“There are three kinds of men--those who learn by
reading, those who learn by observation, and those
who have to pee on an electric fence.”
--Will Rogers.

Truth
needs to be
the central keep
of our moral castle.

Yet, today
it is more keepsake
than mainstay.

Most would agree
that Trump
is not a keeper;
unless it’s
Keeper of the Royal Lies.

It’s quite the chore
keeping political poetics
light-hearted.

  1. I am starting to wonder if there won't be another four years of his bull-in-a-china-shop finesse....

  2. each day that infields, I am more amazed at his antics. It's calculating, designed to numb us to the next horrible thing he's done.

  3. Keep up the good work, Glenn. I don't know how anything to do with the presidunce could be light-hearted. I agree with Linda. He wants to keep pushing to see just how much he can get away with as it sets the precedent for the next presidunce without a shred or morals and shuns the truth.

  4. Teflon Trump, the presidunce – LOL! And the quote is spot on! So is your quadrille, Glenn. Truth more keepsake than mainstay – I must remember that for the dunces we have over here.

  5. Oh, man. This is all too sadly true:
    "Yet, today
    it is more keepsake
    than mainstay."

  6. Keeper of the Royal Lies- you said it! It’s exasperating listening to anything he says. Sigh!

  8. There was absolutely no quid pro quo, positively no quid pro quo, most definitely no quid pro quo ……. but, if there was, it's okay. I can't believe he still has rabid followers! I don't know how you managed only 44 words, Glenn!!

  9. Glenn, like the pointed nature of this truth telling. And I sadly agree with Björn, he ain’t goin’ away for another four years. And after his 8 years of idiocy, can you image the jackass that the ignorant minority will vote in next time — unless the intelligent moral people of this country find the balls to do what must be done.

  10. I like how you used the word "keep" in different, apt ways.

  11. I cringe to think he will be the keeper for another 4 years.

  14. I see a second term of this man, and it depresses me no end. But we have Boris, so there you have it - bookends.

  15. And he would pee on that fence in public, eager to show how it should be done.

  16. The challenge of light-hearted Satire with the Reality Show Host occupying the Oval Office. Well-played!
