Sea Change
He loved her too much
he longed to
reduce her
to a grain of sand
and place her
in a shell
in his pocket
She, who was so
much larger
than a grain of
sand
became the very
tide
that brought
the shell
to him
She left him
on the shore
she embraced
the cold,
Atlantic waves
it's only
3,000 miles
to New York
from here'
she shrieked
the only sound
he could hear
was the sea.
she embraced
the journey
the tide
went out.
