For You
For You
I read and write about the war
every day
I know you tire of hearing about it
only because you don’t know anyone
there
at least one of ours dies
daily
they are all ours
when your foot touches the earth
a broken skull falls
there
some who are your age die
screaming
some younger die
disbelieving
I will continue to write and read
until it ends
or you
open your eyes
