Bessie's Bones

image borrowed from google

Bessie’s Bones

Hurricane Sandy
was a behemoth bitch
that mated
with an Arctic brute
and broke the back
of a dozen states,
yet--

it also exposed
the Bessie White,
a 90 year old
four-masted schooner

on a beach
on Fire Island,
between Skunk Hollow
and Whalehouse Point.

Look fast,
for the sea
shall rebury it
soon.

Oh, what a beauty still. Thanks for sharing this.

Gee, there are a few ways I could interpret this picture your fine words have highlighted. I'll take the high road.

Awesome write and out of the chaos that was Sandy...a fantastic discovery...and but a short time to take advantage of the wears before the bones return to the locker...loved this one Glenn! The image is equally fascinating!

Good take on a fascinating find, Glenn. I saw a photo of the ship taken before it went down - gorgeous vessel.
