Inexorable

Inexorable

“Adapt or perish, now as ever, is nature’s
inexorable imperative.”--H.G. Wells.

Deep
into the Yukon,
within
the northern-most
forests,

in every
snow-choked
canyon,
burrow & cave,

beneath
crag & evergreen
spires,

Spring
is stabbing
into the icy
heart of winter--

and all
the spawn
of gestation
ready

themselves,
eager
to blossom
and be

born.

I liked the idea of stabbing winter's icy heart or warming it enough so that it melts.

Stab away ---- into that icy winter! We are ready for spring --- but alas, a blizzard is coming our way tomorrow --- winter's AHA!

I love this poem Glenn. It says so much..the stabbing of winter's heart, the want to be...wonderful quadrille.

This is the right time for the spring to bloom... a lovely poem, with of course the stabbing is so powerful

Winter is slow to leave below the crags here and I love the powerful image 'Spring
is stabbing into the icy heart of winter' evokes :o)

Glenn, this well-crafted line is perfection:

Inexorable is an underused word, one I'd like to read more often. Your Quadrille is very apt considering the comments I've read this evening - most people seem to have snow! So yes, keep stabbing that icy heart of winter, Spring!

I like how this got us closer and closer to the main event. Nice job.

Such perfect descriptions and the crescendo of the poem so well expresses the nature of spring.
