Phantasm

painting by Tes Teach

Phantasm

“Give air to the phantoms of art, and all those
dreams that would be so beautiful if they could
come true.”--Luigi Pirandello.

When introspection is employed,
we can see those things
unseen by others;
like faith,
which is a cornerstone,
a stanchion
that provides a sturdy base
for our panting pursuit
of spiritual/personal/cosmic
truth.

Truth is yet another unseen
vagabond that manifests itself
under many guises.

Past lives, after life. the future--
these are all nothing but
rambunctious wisps
of imaginative dream mists--
yet they can be viewed clearly
by your Higher Self.

Emotions are conniving catalysts, unseen
powerful phantoms, whose influences, edicts,
and machinations are acted out by every one
of us; with                                      every breath,
coloring                                   every moment.

It is postulated that Earth is one of the only
planes of existence where emotions are
allowed to be expressed.

Those among us who’ve encountered aliens
always report that the extraterrestrials seem
to have dead eyes, like a shark’s, devoid of
emotion.

Midst mountain meadows,
Sasquatch can be heard, but it
is rarely ever seen.

Interesting observation about emotions: "It is postulated that Earth is one of the only
planes of existence where emotions are
allowed to be expressed." That makes Earth all the more valuable.

A wonderous array of metaphors do beautifully image the imageless, Glenn! Love how our themes crossed streams. A beautiful write, start to finish!

You have touched on a number of unseen parts of our life. I thought about doing truth as well. Faith is an important part of many people's lives. Emotions and feelings are something we all experience that we believe only occurs here. Very good poem.

Aliens and cosmos and that haiku. Brilliant!

Another great quotation, Glenn, and a poem to match! You've woven into it so many things unseen on the outside but experienced on the inside. I love the personification of truth as a vagabond and emotions as 'powerful phantoms' - the alliteration conveys the ephemeral quality of emotions, which can change with a breath. From your description of aliens, I'm sure I've met quite a few.

I wonder too... and all those emotions can also lead us in the wrong direction, maybe it will be our overpowering emotions that will be the end of humanity.

Glenn, you have captured many aspects of the unseen. I see with eyes what others cannot perhaps, it is through meditation and the higher self. I don't really know, there are too many unexplained mysteries in life, death and everything in between.

Yes, truth is rarely seen, but so necessary. And no I have not seen Sasquatch, but still don't know if he exists...though I hope he does.

Or it’s salvation, depends on which emotion we succumb to, empathy or tribalism.

Hope to walk with the vagabond a while. Good outline of inner spaces

Powerful - again!

"Past lives, after life. the future--
these are all nothing but
rambunctious wisps
of imaginative dream mists--"
I most associate with these words....I do believe in past lives....which I suppose means I believe in a future life as well?
How horrific it would be, if truly we were not allowed to express emotions. But then, as my daughter has said to me numerous times, "Mother, every movie can't be The Sound of Music!"

"Emotions are conniving catalysts. . ." So very true. How can something we cannot see exert so much control over our actions, or seem to at least? Great take on the prompt.
