Tears of a Dove
“In Spring, the earth is like a child
who knows poems by heart.”
--Rainer Maria Rilke
Patriotism,
Loyalty,
Fidelity,
all things we cling to
within our neighborhoods,
schools,
cities,
counties,
states,
sports teams,
favorite pubs,
and countries;
complicated by our gender,
sexuality,
religion,
and political bent--
but how about we are all One--
all loving,
all related,
one homogenous family?

I wonder if we will ever learn... there is but one earth, and one human race.
I'm so pleased you included the Rilke quote, Glenn. He's one of my favourites.
I really like the shape of your Quadrille and the use of lists is effective in building up to the pertinent point.
Can't see it happening ever, I'm sad to say. Too many people disagree that we are all one. Immigrants? Send them home. Consume less so the poor can stop dying of poverty? Can't do with less. Sorry. Mine.
Oh, it is so significant to embrace the idea. We all are different in our own ways, defined by the parameters of gender, sexuality, faith, et al. but we all are a part of the same species -- one family.
Well-penned. I also admired the Rilke quote.

Nice presentation of an alternative to "Patriotism,
Loyalty,
Fidelity"
Yes, yes, we are all one! I love it, and I really appreciate the way you have used form and list making to bring me along to the conclusion. This quadrille is very new to me and it's amazing to see what you've done here, managing to scoop us all up into the mediation room and admit, we're all here! Lovely!
Sigh .. I fear mankind fails to accept this truth as we delve deeper and deeper into destruction and chaos. Powerful write, Glenn π
Yes we all are one, even though we are often selfish and brutal
So much YES to this. And I LOVE the quote you've chosen, Glenn.
Love the powerful message - yes we are all One.
Yes, yes yes! :) Important message for these days!
I believe there is hope in this, hope for this to come to pass. I love the quote you started with as well. Perhaps it is in the children that hope resides.
Nothing like complaining about the furniture in the room while the house is on fire. A prophetic call that I hope will go heeded, but I would not bet a paycheck on.
