Let's Drink Up the Stars
Let's Drink Up the Stars
A Song-Poem
1.
Let’s climb ‘way up the chestnut tree
And watch the sunset, you ‘n me.
Let’s breathe the honey-blossom air
In our magic castle way up there.
As day is dancing down to dark
And fireflies float up like sparks,
Let’s wave good-bye to this beautiful day
And hitch a ride on the milky way…
Let’s drink up the stars and fly away
drink up the stars and fly away
drink up the stars and fly away.
2.
Let’s sleep tonight down on the beach.
The moon is close enough to reach.
Let’s share my sleeping bag for two
And this box of donuts, me ‘n you.
With diamonds dancing up above
And everything made out of love,
Let’s hear the angels’ lullaby
And sail our dreams into the sky…
Let’s drink up the stars and fly away
drink up the stars and fly away
drink up the stars and fly away.
3.
Let’s drink it up, let’s drink it in –
This gift of life upon our skin
These works of wonder everywhere
On this little planet we get to share.
As we go dancing through our days,
As children laugh and music plays
Let’s sing our songs beneath the sun
And know the best is yet to come…
Let’s drink up the stars and fly away
drink up the stars and fly away
drink up the stars and fly away.
