Lai, Lady, Lei
“So I will greet you with a tear in my heart
and a poem in my eye,”--Sanober Khan.
Not afraid to die,
that’s just a damn lie,
or not.
Stare into night sky,
pointing at star high
you bought.
Poets can be wry--
God only knows why;
so caught.
********************************
She was really cute,
a fact far from moot;
no lie.
Loving her’s a hoot--
my whistle does toot
and sigh.
Now I’m an old coot,
and she’s been my root
on high.

Two great examples Glenn... especially loved the second one... made me smile.
Lei Lady Lai.......so clever are you! And I LOVE these -- especially that second one. Makin' me smile...ya old coot! :)
Both of these are great, Glenn. You showed how the form can be adaptable to different moods and I appreciate that so much. I agree with Bjorn--the second one is so fun.
Your punning title made me smile, Glenn! You are proof that 'Poets can be wry'!
Love these, Glenn. Your cadence and flow remind me of one of my favorite forms, the Ovillejo.
Nice lai to a lady.
Oh Glenn, you wry guy, these are winners!
Great essence in those lines, well done.
Marvelous opening lines - damn lie, or not.
Enough's been said about your wording being wry. Take cheer that no one brought "ham" into it. Both poems were great! You are a wright guy, Glenn.
Great lai poems. :)
ha - that song did go through my mind when I first read the prompt. A fitting title, now I will have this song in my head all night. Both poems made me smile. Ok, I'm still singing.
Stay while the night is still ahead
I long to see you in the morning light
I long to reach for you in the night
"Poets can be wry" Quite evident in both poems. And also the title. Thanks for the smile :)
Love the song title! Your sense of humor shines through both of these. You did good;)!
The second one gave me a huge smile Glenn ~ Love your sense of fun, no lies ~
She's really cute, I liked the flow of that, she makes you give a hoot; feel younger too
