Al Fresco Cafe Poems #169

"Time" by Martin Jansen

Al Fresco Café Poem #169

Constantly, I sit at this black iron table,
Sip sambuca, think of Renata
And her incoherence.

I heard that time curves and comes back.
Time must
Have curved,
Came back
To the time when in Montepulciano
Renata and I departed.

Now Renata is departing again.

I ask myself how can one who is absent
Depart.
But she can.
I ask myself
How can one who was never met depart.
But she can.

Renata has departed,
So I now believe time curves
And comes back again.

Time has curved.
Time has curved.
