We

Painting by Pablo Picasso

We

we of the male genus
wonder long past the womb
if ever we were once mothers
in some distant land
and time,
whelping poets, bastards,
and presidents.

I don't think you know what an exception you are. Most men would be totally horrified to think that could ever have been true.

You were, deep inside your DNA. Gritty little piece. I like it.

@ Glen - 'We': Hmmm... this feels like the beginning, or first half of a poem. Perhaps it's too one-dimensional at the moment and it needs something to counterpoint it? Something particular? Interesting opening though.
