The Antidote

The Antidote

I know but one freedom, and that is the freedom of
the mind.”--Antoine de Saint-Exupery.

It is one thing to have no real access to freedom, to be
in chains or behind bars, but quite another when your
your body can, or will not respond to your commands;
its rebellion simmering for decades, stripping away
dexterity, strength, function & balance--until one dawn
you become trapped in your home, and everything
that you consider to be your self as a person is just
painfully stripped away, torn asunder.

Then comes the panic & insomnia, wrapped in a
terrible mantle of fear--of darkness, of sleep, of demons,
even death. The key to egress, to homeostasis, is
within. Feed the mind, break the chains.

There is a breaking
point for each of us, but the
mind can restore all.

I believe you - keep the mind active and alert. That is a terrible place to be, becoming trap in one's own home.

How lovely to read you again Glenn ~

Nice to see you here again. I found this quite a powerful piece. There is nothing worse than being trapped by our own bodies, but I think you're right, freedom comes from within.

How great to see you again Glenn... the poem on the ordeal and the freedom of the mind when you are chained by health issues. Hope you are on a positive trend and we will see more of you.

If you can only keep it in your mind that things can change, it would be a big help. This is sad, and I hope you are entangling from it.
