War Honors
War Honors
I speak of a certain place;
I killed an eagle
I consecrated the eagle;
that same year I killed an enemy
and consecrated the scalp
to the gods in the heavens
and the gods received
my smoke.
I speak of a certain place
I killed a wildcat
and consecrated it
and that same year
I went on the warpath
and captured ponies ;
when I returned to the village
I took one pony and gave it to the priest.
I speak of a certain place
I killed a raccoon
I consecrated it to the gods
in the heavens;
that same year I went on the warpath
and captured many ponies;
upon my return to the village
I gave four horse to different men.
The gods in the heavens have heard me.
They will make the path straight for you
to do likewise.
