Freezing Down

freezing down


freezing again
Barton Springs closed
the rains wash debris trash
chemicals to keep the golf course
green into the watershed & so the polar
bears cannot swim their bodies produce no clouds
he watches TV the riots in Haiti & how
the patient always suffer
he wants to laugh about voodoo zombies
the patronizing humor of massah economics
but there is no laughter
no flow no clouds to drop
cubs into a morning meadow
the rivers of breath
earth to heaven the heat of sleeping light
the girl told him how lightning works
hotter than the surface of the sun
water & heat & ice or how we
read time & trajectories
arc lightning wants
like rain to reach
bottom faster
than gravity
or who
drops
it now
& jumps
