i'm hiding in the bathroom

i’m hiding in the bathroom
running a papertowel in the
coldest water and touching
it to my face. i’m trying
to keep my chin still – if that
goes, then the room will
collapse

stillness is bravery
carving a distinct
space

my chin purses and puckers,
gathering all the elements
not connected to an expert
explosion. pulled tightly
together, i think i’ve got it
down now – now, to step
out
