Food Chain

Food Chain

“Mosquitoes remind us that we are not as high up
on the food chain as we think.”--Tom Wilson.

Sharks eat sea lions.
An orca eats sharks.
Sea lions eat yellow tail.
Tuna eat sardines and tropical fish.
Tropical fish eat insects;

and ironically damn mosquitos
chow down on me.

Hummingbirds sip their
nectar, as crows push them off
the bright red feeders.

Smart and funny. I like the almost circle you make.

I don't like mosquitos too Glenn. The food chain quote made me smile - so true.

A fun and lighthearted take on the prompt.

The Haiku is perfect. Stands alone, but illustrates the poem above. Well done!

I love the idea of the food chain cycle.... mosquitoes sip our blood... they go big!! Crows and Blue Jays tend to be bully's!

Tru dat. A little humility does a body good.

A lot of crows in my neighbourhood. I know I'm supposed to like them...intelligent, mystical creatures they are, but I like them as much as mosquitoes.

It's sort of a circular chain, isn't it? Those farm mosquitos anyway.

I love the quote, Glenn, and the oceanic food cycle you describe has a touch of surrealistic humour. I like the contrasts of the implied colours of hummingbirds and crows with the bright red of the feeders in the haiku.

You and me both! Those mosquitoes are brutal! Love the closing haiku!❤️

Everything is eating something else. I am glad its mainly mosquitoes to worry about.

The food chain runs in strange circles... and yet the smallest of birds eat mosquitoes

If there's a way to get those mosquitoes to go after a midge instead of me, I'll take my chances with the orcas.
