Spending Time with Janet Leigh

For those readers who want to get involved with an outstanding poetry blog, and all around literary site, do yourself a favor and click onto http://janetleigh.wordpress.com/ and you will come to POETMEISTER...THE ROAD TO PARNASSUS. Janet is the mistress of all forms of poetry, and her haiku is especially well written. She loves to have visitors, and reciprocates by checking out your blog,if you have one as well. She responds to every comment left on her site. She is very interesting person, and a very talented poet. She was named after the wonderful actress who married Tony Curtis, and whelped Jamie Lee. I always thought, even back in the 50's, that "she" was too good for him, with his swaggering good lookings, his womanizing, and acting talent that barely blossomed after 20 years experience.

Hello, Glenn! *wave* I hope you don't mind that I'm posting here, but I wanted to tell you about Winning Writers War Poetry Contest - especially after reading the poems you left on my blog to read. They're awesome and incredible! You might want to enter them in the contest. Winning Writers is holding a contest for the best poem on the theme of war. You can submit 1-3 unpublished poems, up to 500 lines in total. The deadline is 5/31/08. Here's a link to their site, in case you're interested:

Winning Writers

BTW, I'm not sure what you're planning on doing with this Spending Time with Janet Leigh entry that is presently blank and just have to ask if you are providing me with this "wordless blog space" to fill it up with my own thanks once again, for all the wonderful comments, poems, and research information on Parnassus even! that you left in my Comment areas? ;> (I'm scootching with you, I hope you know this, lol. You can always delete this if you want to, after all.)

But I figure since you have my famous name as a blog entry title, you'll probably get lots of hits here, which I'm more than pleased to be associated with, mind you..:) Although it does seem like I'm exhibiting a bit of pomposity by posting here, but, as you know, it goes along with the territory and I am, after all, Janet Leigh *snort* I just hope you don't go Psycho on me for taking the liberty of posting a little something to go with my famous name, heh heh. Your dear readers might think you have nothing to say after "spending time with Janet Leigh" and you could have made better use of your time by, say, washing your pet ferret, or something... ? *wink*

Okay, all kidding aside...I'm so pleased and extremely humbled by your generosity of spirit, in sharing your work with my dear readers on my blog, and for the kind thoughts and impressions you've shared with me about my work. I can't find the right words to express how much I appreciate getting feedback by a writer/poet of such high caliber and accomplishments as yourself. You are much too kind in your praise as I have so much yet to learn, and I am willing to put the time and effort into honing my craft. You've just given me a shot in the arm! Thank you muchly! :)

Janet:

What a sweetheart you are for stopping by to check out the posting about you and your terrific poetry blog. Thanks for the timely tip on the poetry contest at WINNING WRITERS. I am submitting three of my war poems to them today. Thanks to you I looked at them afresh, and rewrote them as needed. They are better now, as I am for knowing you. Wish me luck, dear. I have not submitted much to contests, and it would be grand to get at least an "honorable mention". I sumitted
HEROES HAVEN, ON PATROL, and HOME OF THE BRAVE. I guess sometime in mid-November we will get the results.

Much like myself, you have been a poet since you were a child. I have carried poetry with me, within me, like a bracelet of clover, all my days, and as the muses allow, I scribble down a line or fifty. I did not think to push my work on the public beyond my blog, and friend's blogs, until I retired, but you have given me the impetus to throw my hat in the ring, and let the lines fall where they may.

Thanks for your earnest enthusiasm, and your love of poetry. Your work, like mine, has high points and medians. One cannot wordsmith, and turn the perfect phrase ad infinitum; but we must try. I disagree that your poetry is nubile. I am impressed with much of it, as my comments on your blog attest. I hope that we have struck up a poetic "relationship" that will make a difference for each us in the future.
