Movie Magazine Covers III: Star-Studded Art
Yes, I know, here I go again, looking at movie magazine covers as art, and of the thickest and most gorgeous kind of nostalgia. Here are several car loads of classic film covers; 490 of them this time. I really put in some research time. The hand painted ones, done by artists like Earl Christy, are always the gallery favorites. I dug up 97 of them for your pleasure and perusal. And just for grins I found 23 rare Marilyn Monroe covers. The women outnumber the men on the covers 10 to 1, but it was fun to find Spencer Tracy on so many. Van Johnson was kind of a cover boy for the 40's and early 50's, then Rock Hudson began to dominate them. This pictorial is like looking into a clear night sky in New Mexico, so many stars, it dazzles us. Most of them are dead, long gone, and yet we still seem them in all their brightness. I found 1 Frances Farmer cover. Elizabeth Taylor probably has over 50 of them here. There are some rare WWII covers of Clark Gable, James Stewart, Tyrone Power, and Ronald Reagan in uniform. From 1915-1970, the covers march on ad infinitum.

Wow, what a fun browse! So many great ones, I couldn't pick a favorite. The Garbo covers are especially nice.
