Plague Cloud Politics
“In my opinion, Donald Trump lives a life of loving
and helping others, just as Jesus taught.”
--Jerry Falwell, Jr.
Our theaters are dark, curtained off, locked down,
and the live laughter and tears and applause are
silenced, just the sad sound of one hand clapping,
stirring the dead air, and emptiness replaces
fellowship everywhere, stadiums and cathedrals
moan with the eerie sounds of silence, with only
one obese moronic creature in pumpkin make-up
and a clown’s hairdo is cheering as the Pandemic
marches across every inch of the globe, so eager
to infect and slay the ignorant and the compromised,
scurrying around like thunderous herds of plague
rats, not afraid of the light, murdering all ages, ready
to topple the Trumpers and the doubters and nay-
sayers, as History reminds us in a death-rattle voice
that the Spanish Flu took 3 years to defeat--so now
after nearly four years of Trump’s follies, he has
outdone himself with his stunning stupidity and his
narcissistic deflections, and his shit train of lies,
allowing, forcing America to take the lead for the
planet in Covid-19 negative statistics, flaunting
cheating as sublime, fraud as purity, and poor
judgements as sound decisions, creating a twenty
mile deep quagmire of tragedy that will take at least
a decade to recover from, as Obama discovered
while taking 8 years to dig out from under Bush’s
blunders, and for America’s sake I can only hope
that the day Trump took office, whining about the
crowd size, as the earth slipped on its axis, will not
be repeated, because he is already trying to
cripple the Post Office to stifle mail-in voting, and
once more allowing the Russians to meddle in our
elections, counting on the electoral college and ten
kinds of voter suppression to guarantee his re-
election, happy to see a track record of the GOP
cheating Gore and Hillary, and launching MAGA
shenanigans against our new crusaders Joe and
Kamala, because four more years of Trump will
herald the end of Democracy, Social Security,
Obama Care and any hope for world stability;
recently he tweeted how much he admired Joseph
Stalin, who killed 10 million of his own
countrymen, besting even Hitler in a death
toll, as Trump envisions besting them both,
adding to his infamy and shame, aping even
Hitler’s Final Solution, and in his fevered, evil
mind he’s already having the Army Corp of
Engineers digging mass graves for his
enemies, so for Christ’s sake remember, this
can all change for the better in November.

I follow you perfectly. But do Americans?
The world is in a whirlpool of bedlam and chaos at the moment. This is such an honest, in your face, powerful and crisp stream of consciousness poetry, Glenn!
Change, please!
I hope Americans change and vote him out of the office.
Vote Blue for change, for life, for the world, you speak truth. We will have 200,000 dead before the election. In his words "it is what it is" no remorse whatsoever. sigh my heart is heavy
You can count on this American to understand where you and your readers/commenters are coming from. My heart is heavy, too, with the lack of compassion and the absence of remorse and the void of true leadership in the USA's Oval Office today. Yes, you and Truedessa said it, "Vote Blue for change, for life, for the world..." You can count on me. Let's hope there are enough people here who are equally dismayed and fed up... and let's pray for an honest election process!
Trump is the personification of all that is wrong with humanity, what the Antichrist is to Christians. But millions will still vote for him. Terrifying.
We are suffocating. Already buried alive. I too have little confidence in any general awakening here--it's already almost too late.
You say it like it is, Glenn, and speak for many of us....hopefully enough of us to vote that egocentric idiot out of office.
Right on Glenn, write on!!!!!!
Fuck Trump!
I think four more years with Trump will destroy the world... terrifying really (even hard core conservative republicans must realize that it's better not to vote him in)
I am heartened to see the Republicans speak their minds at the convention. It is a crucial time to vote, and not lose our country and allies.
