on sunday morning, i am
concentrating
on the bouquet you gave
to me: with care, i take it apart,
assign each piece
into essential and
trivial. as usual, there are
more trivial, and i am left
with fourteen stems to cut, slice, and
rip into shape, before gathering
them to stand, mostly tiptoes
in shallow water – the typical
beginnings
of a relationship: uprooted,
unedited, and wet
.
