Dragonworld
“My scales are like ten-fold shields, my teeth
are swords, my claws spears, my tail a thunder
bolt, and my breath death.”--J.R.R. Tolkien.
Somewhere.
in the vastness
of the Cosmos,
there is a
Dragonworld;
where one can find
Goldbacks,
Silver Tips,
Yellow Tails,
Black Divers,
White Wings, and
Red Bellies.
There will be
some dragon slayers
too.
Hannibal had his
elephants, but Merlin had
his fiery dragons.

I love the magic names of the dragon... some of them reminds me of Harry Potter and the species there... like
Hungarian Horntail
Norwegian Ridgeback
Somehow I wish there were not dragonslayers in that world of yours.
You tell it in such a matter-of-fact way, making it sound perfectly plausible that there is a dragon world with dragon slayers.
Yessss.
Though I have found, as I get older, that befriending my dragons instead of slaying them is sometimes the key. Takes less time, and sometimes we even share a cup of tea.
Oh, these are my kind of dragons, Glenn, and I want to visit Dragonworld! Mind you, I rather like elephants too. Can we get rid of dragon slayers and hunters of any kind, please?
I love your dragon names. They could almost be butterflies. There must be a dragon world somewhere, how else would we know so much about dragons?
Love this Glenn! The ending haiku was excellent. Looks like you went to fantasy on this one and I got pseudo political.
Marvelous Glenn- dragons in every color.
Wherever there are dragons, there will be those who try to slay them.
Great descriptions...but I'm fine -here on Earth, thank you very much! :)
There will always be dragons and dragonslayers -- sometimes they're called world leaders!
Lovely poem about dragons.
This is the address of the original “Hour Of The Beast”, which I wrote in 2012, and from which I drew the inspiration today for my dragon quadrille. The originsl poem is much longer. If you go read it you will see that you sir, left the very first comment on the original piece 7 years ago.

A luscious serving of dragon, Enjoyed.
Happy Monday
much love...
I don't think they're that hard to find. Just drive to ant city with a beltway, lol.
I would like to travel to this dragonworld and feast my eyes upon these magnificent beast. Of course there would have to be a dragon slayer lurking around to slay one
for his personal trophy room. (sigh)
I like that you went the fantasy route one of my favorite genre.
This is wonderful, and with a twist! I too hope that there are not too many dragon slayers so I might see all the many colors of Dragonworld's inhabitants flying free.
I love Tolkien's Smaug and your encyclopedia of dragons :)
Great ending!
I'll take Merlin any day.
Wonderful dragon names. I think I'd only want to see it from a distance. :)
It's almost as if we remember it in a primal way. Otherwise, how does it permeate our stories.
