All We Need
“Love looks not with the eyes, and therefore
winged Cupid is painted blind.”
--William Shakespeare.
Cupids missiles
are carried
in the cutest
quiver, they’re
covered in
red fox fur.
The love darts
are very sharp.
and are dipped
in cherry treacle.
Some arrows create
a quiver of lust;
others create
a perpetual love quiver.
Then we are all in.

Such a charming piece, Glenn. I love the contrast between the visual of "missiles," and that "cutest quiver."
Interesting perspective that Cupid is painted blind. I liked your last line about us all being in.
Oh you made the little Cupid being so cute and nice... frankly I think his arrows might kill.
So nice to read you not being angry at politics. I didn't know about the red fox fur although I did know about love being blind. A thoroughly charming piece. I like it a lot.
I like the shift in your quadrille, Glenn, from the modern ‘cutest quiver’ and the darts ‘dipped in cherry treacle’ to the more Shakespearean final stanza.
darts dipped in cherry treacle.....hmmmm... me thinks if the arrow misses, I might stoop down to pick it up and lick that delicious treacle!
Truly charming Glenn!
"cherry treacle" vs. "all in" is a clever comparison. How about a little of both?
Completely charming!
A quiver of lust is inviting but, I think a perpetual quiver of love is more endearing. I am not used to this side of your writing :)
I love the title and poem, most specially the ending line - magical.
Charming :)
