12,000 goddamn lies,
while the public dies
from my lack of leadership
and an abundance of ignorance
and hubris.

I am the Captain of my own ship,
though I never learned to navigate.
I inhabit the position
of the President of the United States,
and even though I am constantly
given sound logical empirical advice,
and have the services of those with expertise,
I love to disregard it,
for a lark,
to piss everybody off,
to be given my 8 hours of daily news coverage.
I fully intend to continue this behavior
for at least four more years;
consider yourself forewarned.

Dear Lord, please NO. And the formatting is superb.

Your poem has an amazing shape, format, title, content, and some of it reminds me of my favourite Henry Rollins’ song, ‘Liar’. It might not be your kind of music, but the lyrics and performance are so good. Here’s a link to it, if your interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awY1MRlMKMc

Yes, Brian, thanks for poking around my blog. When the Pub takes two weeks off, I still get the itch to write. Ironically, with some rewriting, it fit today's prompt. This is one of those poems I began to write while waiting to drift off to sleep; smile.

A glowing piece of vitriol....and all of it true! You speak for many, Glenn.

Yikes, no please, not another 4 more years. Really enjoyed the formatting and message of this one Glenn.

Yes, every word of this - except not four more years or we are doomed. I will never understand why his henchmen allow him to get away with stuff NO other person in office could get away with. It boggles the mind.

Perfect.

All of the above, and so much more. Yet so much less.

I love this Glenn although you're giving me nightmares. We cannot take 4 more years. It will be the end of the world as we know it. I liked the way you formatted the poem giving us a wonderful visual effect. I just read on someone else's blog that "An empty man is full of himself" That would be Trump

I really did get physically ill reading your poem. It was just too too true. Who would think that anyone would ever be able to pen such a poem about a president of the U.S. and have every word the truth? No amount of vitriol is adequate. Good job.
