Natives of the North
Natives of the North
1.
Spring
Glorious it is
to see young women
gathering in little groups'
and paying visits in the houses;
then all at once the men
do so want to be manly.
Glorious it is
to see long-haired winter caribou
returning to the forests,
while the herd follows
the ebb-mark of the sea,
with a storm of clatterin hooves.
Glorious it is
when wandering time has come.
2.
Visitors
The lands around my dwelling
are now more beautiful
from the day when
it is given to me
faces
I have never seen before.
